Title: Open CL and NVIDIA CUDA - GeForce 8600GT
Post by: chfisa on June 15, 2012, 02:16:09
Help!
I receive a "device error" when benchmarking Open CL for my GeForce 8600GT graphics adapter. I have been going with the default workgroup size of 64.
 Thanks!

That version of video drivers do you use ? It can be viewed in Similarity logs ("%appdata%\Similarity" folder)

Can you check on latest video drivers 301.42 ? Unfortunately, we don't have nVidia 8X00 videocard for checking.

I took your suggestion and updated my nVidia drivers to the latest version you recommended.

Now, when I click the "Benchmark" box under OpenCL, I receive a dialog box that states -  "Calculation Error".

By the way, I am able to use OpenCL with the Audacity audio capture software without any issues.

Thank you for your assistance!

Sorry, I mis-spoke myself. Audacity does not support OpenCL. It is VLC that I am able to use OpenCL on - without issues...

Did you ever solve this problem? I have the same video card with the latest drivers. Each time I try to run the benchmark the drivers crash.

I'm having exactly the same problem with a GTX 770.

Hello,
I have the same issues on my GTX460.
Although the log says:

2014-10-12 11:43:06   OpenCL: NVIDIA CUDA - GeForce GTX 460
2014-10-12 11:43:06   OpenCL: GeForce GTX 460 version 340.52 (OpenCL 1.1 CUDA)
2014-10-12 11:43:06   OpenCL: Work group size 64
2014-10-12 11:43:06   OpenCL ready...

When I do the benchmark I get
Calculation error or device busy

The log repeatedly says

2014-10-12 11:44:05   COpenCL::Process:416 failed [false]
2014-10-12 11:44:07   COpenCL::Process:416 failed [false]

2014-10-12 11:45:43   System error [15100]
2014-10-12 11:45:43   CAudioComparer::BlockCL:1035 failed [false]
2014-10-12 11:45:43   System error [15105]
2014-10-12 11:45:43   CAudioComparer::ProcessCL:1124 failed [false]
2014-10-12 11:45:43   OpenCL use failed
2014-10-12 11:45:43   System error [997]
2014-10-12 11:45:43   COpenCL::Process:416 failed [false]

I have no idea of Similarity finally uses now OpenCL or not...

Any solution?

I am using Win7 Prof 64 bit

The probem in the new Nvidia drivers, we already written ticket to them. Old ones works perfectly. In debug mode they crahes system at all, video driver restarted.
