Bugs / Re: Activation: 403 error
« on: April 27, 2023, 22:01:31 »
I've even bought a 1 year warranty extension now as having a fully function similarity is worth these 10 bucks for me and still can't activate it...
I also tried contacting them via the web form which doesn't work at all.
Sending the email to support@similarityapp.com as alternate means of contact worked, but I also didn't get a reply.
I even did a separate search and found contact@garsoftware.com as additional email, but there I get a bounce that it couldn't be delivered.
It really seems that similarity support isn't available anymore?

This issue still persists... I can't activate my Similarity either way.

Bugs / Activation: 403 error
« on: June 01, 2022, 07:22:44 »
No matter if I try the online or the offline activation, both throw a 403 - forbidden error.
Additionally I find it quite worrying that the last post in this forum is from January - is something wrong with you, Similarity team?

Hi,

Auto-marking is quite a dangerous function, since you easily may delete something that wasn't meant to be deleted.
I only use it with everything on 100% equality.

All other stuff gets sorted by hand, but even this works very fast with similarity.

Additionally I always delete to the thrash and check afterwards explicitely that I didn't delete something wrongfully.

I can recommend similarity very much, I easily sorted half a terabyte of duplicates away in only a few hours. I also checked the competition but similarity was the most useful program.
But you definitely need to buy it since only the precise check is the truly trustworthy one. It was a leap of faith for me, but I never regretted it.

Currently I use it for finding duplicates in my photos - works quite well there, too.

And beware: similarity uses up a whole lot of CPU and GPU calculating power with the precise algorithm. It's the only useful program I currently have that actually gets my Workstation to 100% for several hours - an dual octocore xeon (16 cores @ 2,7 GHz) with a GTX 970.
But the results are really good.

To your question with the artist information etc:
Similarity has two different runs, you can either find duplicates or analyze files - the "play" button is a dropdown.
It only get the tags if you do the "analyze" run, too.

Hi,

That's a regular problem I have, too.
If I really want to delete a whole folder (which usually represents a version), I do so by right clicking on one of the tracks to delete and then use "Browse..." to open the windows explorer and to delete the whole folder.
Similiarity doesn't see this deletion until you do another scan.

But be warned - there is a bug in similarity: http://www.similarityapp.com/forum/index.php?topic=1835

Hi,

simply sorting by the corresponding columns (e.g. artist) isn't enough?
I personally usually sort by filename since my MP3 tags aren't always right.

Hi,

Your german thread title isn't helpful for sure...

I regularly work with similarity just the way you describe. Just use the auto mark function under the menu point "Action", it will only select group 2.
Be careful though, I only autodelete files that are really 100% identical in every way, the rest I sort manually.

If it doesn't work the way I described you'd have to elaborate more in which way you try it and what the result is.

Bye,

The problem is that it doesn't switch to the one-by-one mode or simply skip the deletion.
It sees one file of the multiple selected files being already deleted and somehow thinks it doesn't have to ask for the rest of the files, too.

I've got this behaviour with the latest version (1.9.2) as a registered license.

Working with the selected files is a valid option, true.

I didn't mean to resize the window. I would get the current height of the list control divided by the line height (which you also should know), thus knowing how many lines are displayed at the moment.
The only tricky thing I can imagine is finding out which is the first line currently displayed...

Wishlist / Re: Delete complete folder
« on: February 22, 2015, 13:29:38 »
Sorry for taking so long to reply.

The criterion would simply be the folder, in which the file is that I just right-clicked.
A good text might be "Mark all files in the same folder".

Ok, that's helpful, now I can clean that up.

It would be very nice to have them displayed in the GUI, though  ;)
