General / Attached new sript: scan-samename with speed improvement
« on: February 07, 2021, 17:11:40 »
I have two folders and compare only files with same name (in that case name&ext).
The original version takes much longer as it puts all files in the queue and compares names in the next step.

Here, name comparison is done in the script with array and manual name comparison. Only pairs are added to the queue.

@Admin: maybe it is worth to open a new forum group to share sample scripts...

General / Attached new script: Copy GOOD>BAD/new subfolder
« on: February 07, 2021, 17:07:56 »
If you want to compare and then copy better files to other folder/new.
This way you put new (only better) files in separate folders.
Results are created as batch files that you may launch separately. It also creates a second batch to delete the worse files.

Bugs / Clear Cache sometimes freezes
« on: October 13, 2019, 19:08:31 »
Hello,
first, when comparing many many pictures the cache is more slowing down than it helps.
=> I suggest like the setting for very large collections disable the cache also for picture comparison
=> from time to time I press the clear cache button durin operation. That works in 1/3 cases, but the rest causes no response, althoug after the restart I see that the cache has been deleted.
Would hope you are able to fix/improve this. Please let me know if you need more information.
Best,
Martin

Hello,
currently I get all my songs from radio. I use streamwriter to continuously write e.g. 40 channels (italian, frensh,top100...) to disk. Within a week you get 100.000 new songs or more.

Now, the main challange when it comes to delete duplicates is to delete files that have somebody talking at the beginning or there is another song not yet finished.

=> a new criteria that indicates the correct beginning of a song is helpful, but I am not sure if it is possible to get the information from e.g. Musicbrainz if a song starts later (because of song before) than at 0seconds. Often the song is identified properly even if it begins e.g. 20sec later.

=> an option without internet information could be (it's not done elsewere! so it could be something new): list the delay of all found matches. The file with the smallest delay could be the original (without speach at the beginning) or the file with the least disturbance.

At the end that would allow to retrieve high quality songs even from radio station recordings..

Best,
Fred

Wishlist / Link to duplicate when deleting
« on: January 04, 2013, 17:26:07 »
to keep album information complete although duplicates are deleted
- add a textfile with a link to the original and/or
- a link to the original

I just worked with Jaikoz and they store some time consuming information like accoustic fingerprints and Musicbrainz ID into the file.
The next time it is not required to calculate that stuff again.

Also maybe Similarity coud utilize already stored IDs OR if they are sufficient in quality use them for precise comparison instead.

Also a cooperation with e.g. Jaikoz may be interesting as YOU make the best duplettes checking :-) !

I often loose the information when mp3 are moved or similarity cache is cleared.
If not too big it may make sense to put it into mp3 properties.

Bugs / [SOLVED] Please Help: Automark ignores mark priority
« on: December 29, 2012, 22:46:45 »
I like to mark worse songs, so my top priority is "rating".
Help says it is marking files with lowest rating.
That worked well for most of files, but a significant number of files is incorrectly marked (see attachment).
It looks like Bitrate has been given higher priority than rating?!

Martin

Bugs / Similarity shows Doubles of files that do not exist
« on: May 01, 2011, 14:19:32 »
I tried several times scans with using groups.
Now it finds 165 doublettes, but the ALL files in group2 do not exist.
The logs show that those files were not opened. I do not know why they were scanned, as they do not exist as file.
This scan took me almost a week now because several times Silarity just froze... and I had to restart.
Also I still do not know which order and configuration for the decoders is most robust.
Any idea?

Bugs / Number of files is reduced and then stops
« on: April 22, 2011, 20:12:44 »
It starts scanning, lets say 5000 files, then quickly reduces number of files to e.g. 300.
Log is telling me:
Open failed "...Dxyz.mp3", no suitable decoder
Next time I end similarity and start again it is working w/o any changes made.

Edit: Added some decoders, did not work.
Did restart Windows => worked..

Sometimes I get far to many results (e.g. 10000 files with 300000 results for identical files).
It looks likes that for a certain time period file comparison with "precise" returns very quickly 100% instead of really comparing the files.
Maybe it is related to CUDA?

Wishlist / Good default settings
« on: April 07, 2011, 17:30:45 »
I think the default settings are not good with premium subscription.
Best results may result from ONLY checking for PRECISE >90% and nothing else.
The same applies for auto mark files...

If I am correct please bring in that information at least in the "First Step" guide

Quite often an instance of similarity.exe remains running after Similaity is closed.
During the next start "Can't read cache file" appears. Maybe this is a reason for cache proplems mentioned in other threads?!

Bugs / Scan results not remembered
« on: March 30, 2011, 20:36:40 »
Hi,
it seems results for analysis are remembered, but any scan result is forgotten after stop > start.
Is that correct?
Regards, Martin

Similarity 1.5.3 and 1.5.4

Similarity just tells me "Cannot delete file. Cannor read from source file or disc".
May be it is because some files may really not exist in the meantime, but it is very annoying to run through the whole scan procedure again...
Was found on "Result" and "Analysis" page. Also files from Analysis seem not to be updated after they were deleted?!
Thank you,
Martin
