v0.9.300 on Win2000
I think there is something severely wrong with the caching mechanism.
Or i misunderstand how it is supposed to work.
After scanning a good portion of my collection, the cache is at about 13000 entries.
I marked many of them .... perhaps about 300 as Ignores.
The rest I deleted either left or right.
I closed Similarity.
Now I just started Similarity again, and start the scan without adding any new folders to the list.
And the Cache size reads: 94
What is going on ?
What is worse, all the filepairs which I marked to Ignore are now showing up again, as this scan progresses.
Please help ! This is nightmarish. :(
I have 18000 more files to go .... and if ignore does not work, I may have to find a tall building. :(

ok, ok,
1) the caching file must be writable, check it size, it must increase after scanning (and in scanning progress).
2) try to check smaller group and see cache file size.

Where does the cache file live ?
-
Ja ok ... i see it:
C:\Program Files\Similarity\cache.dat
At the end of the run it is at 109MB, writable.
so now I exit Similarity. cache still 109MB.
Now I restart Similarity.
It remembers my directory selections correctly .... and cache file is still at: 109MB.
Now I hit 'Start scanning' button and cache file is still at 109MB ...... but the status bar starts out with :
Cache : 0 New : 0/0
and all the previously ignored duplicates show up again.

Version of Windows ?, if its Vista,7 with enabled UAC, Similarity writes to AppData folder in user folder, not in Program Files.

Do I need to move
C:\Program Files\Similarity\cache.dat
somewhere ?

1) Delete it it
2) Run Similarity and test, Does Similarity create new file where ?
-
I found error in loading cache, will be fixed in new version.
